Dry Vacuum Pump FAQ's

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Process material gets clogged in – Free the pump by filling the solvent.
  • Post condenser is chocked – Clean the post condenser.
  • Exhaust port is closed – Open the exhaust port.
  • Pressure loss in pipe is increased – Attend the pressure leakage.

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Vacuum pump inlet temperature is high.
  • Cooling water circulation is poor – Check for air lock in cooling line/ Clean the cooling water line/ dry vacuum pump jacket.
  • Too much compression ratio/ Vapour load increased.

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Improper lubricant – Refill the lubricant.

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Screw Edge Clearance is increased (>0.1mm) – Reset the clearance.
  • Filter is clogged – Clean/Change the filter.

Coating failure/ Erosion of casing & screw – If casing is inside surface undercut then replace casing.

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Misalignment of motor and pump – Check the alignment and correct it.
  • Bearing failure – Replace the bearing.
  • Check for motor bearing failure -Change the motor bearing.

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Lot of process material contamination – Work the vacuum pump as per our SOP with solvent flushing & N2 nitrogen purging.
  • Process material is more acidic.

CAUSES and SOLUTIONS:

  • Misalignment of dry vacuum pump coupling with motor.
  • Lubrication/greasing not done periodically.
  • Excessive vibrations due to foundation bolt not grouted.

SOLUTION:

  • Synthetic High Temperature grease.

  • EPSPL recommended Vacuum Oil E100 (Synthetic grade)
