Booster Pump FAQ’s
Q. Why does Booster pump overheat?
CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS:
Backing vacuum pump achieves low vacuum level (required minimum 30-40 torr) – Check vacuum level.
check cooling water circulation at Drive & Non-Drive end.
If clearance increases between lobe to end plate – check & Adjust the clearance.
Q. Why does Booster Pump bearing failure occur?
CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS:
Poor/low oil lubrication – Check and maintain oil level.
Bearing not replaced as per periodically running standard hours – Replace the bearing after standard bearing running hours.
Q. Why is Booster Pump making abnormal sound?
CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS:
Bearing failure – Check and replace the bearing.
Gear backlash – Check and replace the gear set.
Disturbance in lobe clearance – Check and adjust the clearance with timing gear.
Q. Why does Booster Pump overload on electric motor?
CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS:
Pump is stuck/no free movement – Free the lobe & check.
Incorrect VFD parameter setting – Check and correct the settings.
Q. Which oil is used for Booster Pump?
SOLUTION:
EPSPL recommended synthetic vacuum oil (E100)
Q. Why does Booster Pump achieve low vacuum level?
CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS:
Drive end mechanical/oil seal failure – check & replace the seal.
Q. Which direction does Booster Pump rotate in?
SOLUTION:
Driven anti-clockwise from motor side/check direction arrow.
